藏品详情：据相关史料记载，清代咸丰年间（1851-1861年），当时正值太平天国农民起义运动，这一运动发展迅速，天平天国政府迅速在江苏南京建都，所以当时清政府赖以铸钱的滇铜就因为道路的阻断而无法运进北京。镇压起义急需大量的军饷开销，但是由于道路阻断，铸钱的原材料却是十分紧缺，这给清政府造成了严重的财政困难，最终迫使清政府自咸丰三年开始发行纸币和改铸大钱来弥补财政亏空。咸丰元宝当千钱币就是在这样的大背景下产生的。
