从明代中期开始，东西方便开始在沿海地区进行贸易交流，外国银元随之流入中国。在清代初期，随着东西方贸易发展逐渐步入正轨，外国银元流入中国的数量相应增多，行用区域也不断扩展。在外国银元的影响下，我国东南沿海各省率先出现仿照外国银元而铸的银币。由于它们都是以人工土法打制而成的，形如饼状，故被称作“银饼”。这种银饼属于银币的一种，存世稀少，是当前收藏家们求之不得的珍品，价值不菲!

此足纹银饼直径4.0cm、重26.4g，类属台湾银币，其形制规整，品相完美，包浆自然，颇具收藏价值。清道光十七年至十八年(1837~1838年)，张温在台湾州新党郡庆白口举行起义，台湾地方政府为筹集军饷而铸行了这种银币，俗称“台湾老公银”，具有早期打制币的特点，亦有着浓郁的地方特色。钱币正面中上部为寿星像，左右为“道光年造”，“足纹银饼”的篆文，“饼”字下方刻有“卐”记，在寿星的胡须下方有纪值文字“库平柒弍”;背面中央为一宝鼎图案，四周环列满文，另有十二圆圈和十六星点。这种以寿星作正面图案的银饼是各类银饼中为时最早的，存世极少，价值不菲，非常值得藏家收藏。
